Update on Urban Allotments from Rachael Fisher
Like so many business ideas, ours was
born from personal experience.
We were keen to grow more of our own
fruit, herbs and vegetables, and faced a depressingly long waiting list for the
local allotment. And we didn’t fancy digging up the patio or our small lawn –
we love our outside space in the sun. We found our answer with raised beds and
some unusual planters, but then thought about those people with limited outdoor
space or mobility who like us wanted to know where their food comes from.
And so was born our business, with the
mantra of helping our customers to enjoy “great taste in a little space”. We’ve
now been trading for just over 12 months.
Right now, we are re-designing our website
urban-allotments.com, and expanding the range of products we offer – including
new pots and planters that look good anywhere. Based on customer feedback
(we’ve just gone on Facebook!), we have designed a wider range of easy-to-buy
packages - a selection of mints for tea (our ‘Tea Caddy’) is my favourite.
Finally there are great new gift ideas with Mother’s Day and Easter just around
the corner. Spring is in the air !
