High quality 30cm plastic pots in a variety of bright colours (or more muted ones if you prefer!)
Matching saucers are also available.
Growing veg and growing herbs always seem to start with a 30cm pot or container, these brightly coloured ones are available in loads of colours with co-ordinating saucers to help water retention.
Made in Europe from high quality plastic, they'll last. They also have colour protection built in so they won't be fading for a good number of years.
Planting ideas for 30cm plant pots...
Growing salad - very straightforward, fill with compost a few broken bits of crockery or gravel in the bottom and then plant. These 30cm pots will take about 6 salads mixed in with about the same number of spring onions or chives plugs. Salad needs to grow quickly to remain crisp, so plenty of water. A saucer is recommended.
Growing herbs - fill with compost a few broken bits of crockery or gravel in the bottom and then plant. You'll be able to fit about 3 herbs in your pot, or if you'd like bigger plants use one per pot. As usual saucers are recommended.
Growing veg - fill with compost a few broken bits of crockery or gravel in the bottom and then plant. You could grow round carrots in pots, a pot of peas either dwarf or climbing, a single tomato or courgette, most things really. Because the plants won't have as much space as they would naturally like, you will need to feed with an organic veg or tomato plant feed every now and then and water well (i.e. keep the soil moist).
