From the French word mange (eat) and tout (all) the flat pods of mangetout are eaten whole before the peas have begun to develop. With large flat pods reaching up to 1m (3ft 6in) high, this crop is a focal point! Fortunately, Mangetout has a fairly long cropping season.
Really delicious blanched and tossed in salad dressing, steamed or eaten raw they are becoming increasingly popular. Serve steamed with a knob of butter is yet another way to enjoy your efforts!
